Plaster of Paris Bandages

Plaster of Paris bandages are made from a gauze bandage impregnated with a mixture of calcium sulfate hemihydrate (Plaster of Paris) and water-soluble polymer. They are commonly used in orthopedic medicine for casting fractures and providing support to injured limbs. When these bandages come into contact with water, they harden, forming a rigid structure that helps immobilize and support the injured area during the healing process. They’re versatile and widely used due to their ease of application and the support they offer in stabilizing fractures.

CREPE BANDAGE

Crepe bandages are elastic bandages made from a lightweight, stretchy fabric known for its crinkled or textured appearance (resembling crepe paper). They are commonly used for providing support, compression, and immobilization of injured limbs, particularly in cases of sprains, strains, or to secure wound dressings.

These bandages come in various widths and are wrapped around the affected area to provide compression, which helps reduce swelling and provides support to the injured joint or muscle. They’re versatile and can be easily applied by wrapping in a spiral manner to achieve the desired level of compression and support.

Crepe bandages are often reusable and can be washed and sterilized, making them a cost-effective and commonly used medical supply in first aid kits and healthcare settings.
